Merry Maids: Proudly giving back to our local community

Caring for our community and our home

Oakville is our home, and we do our part to take care of it.

Being part of this community is a big part of our business here at Merry Maids of Oakville. That’s why we take every opportunity to support local initiatives and programs.

We are very proud to have worked with, or in support of, these groups of dedicated individuals.

  • Children’s Aid Oakville
  • Children’s Aid Milton
  • Tim Hortons Camp Days

Initiatives We're Extra Proud Of!

Wellspring

For patients and families dealing with cancer, Wellspring is a safe and supportive environment. Their work inspired us to give back by doing what we do best, cleaning homes. Each month, we offer one free cleaning to patients receiving cancer treatment – at no charge to them of course. This system allows us to comfortably clean up to four patient homes at any given time, and we’re happy to help.

We hope that this initiative not only helps patients and families directly, but also reminds people of the importance of giving back when you can. Helping out doesn’t always mean doing something drastic. Sometimes, it can be as simple as doing what you’re good at, and making a difference.

Ladies Out Laughing

Ladies Out Laughing is a comedy event raising proceeds towards OneWalk to Conquer Cancer, the Ride to Conquer Cancer, the Tour for Kids, Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House, Tecasy Ranch – Knobby Tire Trek for Kids and The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children.

We’re Helping Raise The Roof

It’s no secret that we like to give back whenever we can, and recently we came across a cause we couldn’t ignore. The Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton, in collaboration with Raising The Roof and the Bridging The Gap Program, we sold toques in an effort to help the homeless. Kerr Street Mission

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic made reliance on food banks and shelters even more apparent. That’s why Merry Maids of Oakville was honoured and privileged to donate $2,000 to Kerr Street Mission. A gathering place and hub of care for the Oakville community, Kerr Street Mission exists to care for low-income and at-risk families and youth. Throughout 2020, Kerr Street Mission saw a significant increase in the number of people they serve. Our donation will help them to maintain an adequate supply of food and keep everyone safe alongside the work of The Neighbour Care Network. Elsewhere, Kerr Street Mission also established the KSM Food Co-op. Much more than a food bank, the Kerr Street Market provides healthy food options for families in need. With 450 people shopping at the market each month, $600,000 worth of food is distributed each year.

Oakville Meals on Wheels

The pandemic has really highlighted the key role that Meals on Wheels plays in keeping seniors safe, healthy and well fed. Oakville Meals on Wheels was established in 1976, and for over 40 years have helped thousands maintain their independence. A daily visit from them helps to nourish the soul, maintain connection with the community and give peace of mind to family members. Their team of wonderful volunteers donate over 2,100 meals a month to residents of Oakville who cannot attend to their own nutritional needs but wish to continue living independently in their community – regardless of their ability to pay. Meals on Wheels Oakville doesn’t simply just drop off hot, healthy food. They provide their clients with regular well-being checks and important social interaction that enables seniors to feel more secure. During the month of March, Merry Maids is donating $5 from every house cleaned.
